Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN

1. Go to the Palo Alto webpage at https://untvpn.unt.edu 
2. Login with your UNT EUID and password.

• • You will receive a DUO MFA push.  Check your MFA device and approve the login. VPN access will require Duo multi-factor authentication (MFA) in addition to your UNT account password.

3. After logging in, click the "GlobalProtect Agent" link on the top right of the webpage.

 

4. The client download menu will appear.  Select the option for your Operating System (Windows or Mac).
5. The client will download. Open the installation file from your file downloads and follow the steps to install the Palo Alto GlobalProtect client.

WINDOWS

MAC

1. Open the connection console by clicking the GlobalProtect icon in your system tray menu.  Note: if the GlobalProtect icon is not visible in the tray menu, please launch the application from the system Start Menu or App Tray.

2. Type the UNT VPN server name  "untvpn.unt.edu" into the Portal field and click the Connect button.

3. Enter your UNT EUID and password and click the Connect button and agree to the UNT banner that pops up.
4. The connection will pause with a message saying "Finding the best available gateway".  At this point, check your DUO MFA device and approve the connection.   Note: The DUO Mobile App is the default MFA method for VPN access. See DUO Append Mode for alternate MFA method. 
5. The VPN client will connect after MFA approval.  The connected icon will appear in the system tray: 

1. Click the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray:

2. Click the "Disconnect" button on the VPN console.

 

First Sign on (or after a password change)

1. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and click accept on the legal agreement
2. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right
3. Select a Wi-Fi network and sign in. If you are on campus, select the UNT network and sign in with your EUID and password
4. Click on the VPN icon. It looks like a lock and key.
5. In the lower left corner, select the appropriate VPN client. Global Protect should be selected by default. If no other VPN clients are installed, this option will not appear.
6. Select GlobalProtect (if necessary) and Sign-In with your EUID and Password. The Portal should be automatically filled with: untvpn.unt.edu .
7. Accept the Duo prompt on your phone (MFA). If you prefer to use a phone call as your MFA verification, type in the suffix ',phone' after your password.
8. Accept the terms of use on screen after authenticating via MFA. 
9. Now sign into the workstation with your EUID and password. Make sure you are signing in as Other user

 

 

1. Launch the "GlobalProtect" app on your mobile device. 
2. The GlobalProtect app will open. Tap "TAP TO CONNECT". 
3. Type the UNT VPN server name  "untvpn.unt.edu" into the Portal field and click the Connect button.
4. Enter your UNT EUID and password and click the Connect button and agree to the UNT banner that pops up.
5. The app will display a "Connecting" message.  At this point, check your DUO MFA device and approve the connection.   Note: The DUO Mobile App is the default MFA method for VPN access. See DUO Append Mode for alternate MFA method.
